My name is Martin Longhurst, Systemic Solutions South is the trading name within which I work, I provide systemic psychotherapy to individuals, couples, children, young people and families. Systemic Solutions South also provides teaching, training and consultation to organisations including schools, mental health organisations, charities and business.
I have worked within Education, Social Work and Mental Health settings since 1976. I have practiced Family Therapy since 1989, and gained a Master of Science degree in Systemic Therapy in 1998.
A systemic approach explores the network of significant relationships of which each individual is a part, considering the beliefs that give meaning to people's actions and the communication patterns between people as they interact with each other and each others ideas.
As a consequence a systemic approach gives attention to people within the context of the relationships they exist within and creates opportunities for us to make changes that not only influence our internal lives and experience, but also the internal lives and experience of others and therefore the relationship patterns that exist and are jointly created between people.
A systemic approach exists within a post modern theoretical context and as such can draw on all models of therapy and consultation available to a practitioner. Therefore affording value to the traditional and longstanding ideas available to us as well as the leading edge of communicative and post modern theory and practice.
